Welcome to Class Edinburgh

Our Topic this half term will be ‘Pharaohs’ children will be learning about life in Ancient Egypt. The children will be linking their learning across all of the curriculum. We will be going on a school trip to the Great North Museum to find out even more about life in Ancient Egypt!

Children will be required to complete tasks linked to our topic. Homework books will be handed out at the beginning of term and will be collected weekly to mark. The children need to achieve 20 points before October half term.

Alongside this, children will get additional homework from their Literacy and Maths teacher which they will be rewarded with points for.

Reading is an important part of the school curriculum.

We expect the children to read at home 3 nights a week minimum. On one of these nights, we would expect your child to read to an adult. Ensure that you ask your child questions about their book to deepen their understanding of what they have read.

Children need to understand what they have read, as well as being able to read the words in the book.

All Year 5 & 6 classes will have P.E on Thursday and Friday afternoon.  However, it is a good idea to have the P.E. kit in all week and take it home at the weekend.

P.E. Kit

Kit should consist of a white T-shirt, navy or black shorts and a pair of black plimsolls.

Please ensure that your child has a full P.E. kit in school at all times.
