Welcome to Class Leeds!

Year 2 is named after the city Leeds because this is where Miss Robinson trained to be a teacher.

Important Information

KP.E - Class Leeds have P.E. on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon - please make sure your child has a full P.E kit with t-shirt, shorts and plimsolls. P.E. kits will be sent home each term to be washed.

Reading - Children need to bring their reading book and planner to school each day. Their reading books will be changed on a Tuesday or earlier should they finish their book. We are asking parents to ensure that they listen to their child read at home at least three times a week  (signed in their planner) Each week we will name one child in each class to be the bookworm of the week. They will receive a prize from the top of the reading mountain and be award a certificate in assembly. The bookwork of the week will alsohave their photgraph put on their classes leader board in the school hall.

Homework - Each half term we send out a homework grid with different activities for the children to complete at home. Each activity is worth a number of points and children should aim to collect 12 points per half term. At the end of the half term children submit their homework for marking and receive a homework treat if the points have been achieved. We appreciate that as parents you are very busy and if you have any concerns or difficulties completing homework please speak to your class teacher who will arrange for your child to attend lunchtime homework club.

Our topic this term is Moon Zoom. We will be linking our history, art, p.e, computing and science to this topic, learning lots of facts and skills in a fun and memorable way.

On our first day back after the Christmas holidays Mrs Ducker rushed into our classroom with some exciting news. She explained that a strange noise had been heard at the end of lunch time and a bright green light was seen beaming down.

All the children in class Leeds were very excited so they agreed to go and explore. After looking at the evidence we decided it must have been a space craft that had crashed.

After discovering the space craft evidence, we decided to learn all about space in our class.

A lady came into school from 'Hoop Starz' and taught us lots of fun tricks to do with a Hula Hoop. Look at how good we are. We had lots of fun!

Muck, Mess and Mixtures!

Our new topic is 'Muck, mess and mixtures' so be prepared for lots of fun smiley
We are focusing on Roald Dahl books this term and starting off by reading George's Marvellous Medicine.

We started our topic today by making our very own 'slime'. We created a list of adjectives to best describe the look and texture of it, we got very messy. We are going to use our knowledge of making slime to help us write a set of instructions in literacy tomorrow.

We will be carrying out lots of experiments which tie into our 'Muck Mess and Mixtures' topic. In science we will be making predictions about what happens to ingredients when they are mixed with water and finding out which soap ingredient creates the most bubbles!

I hope you are looking forward to this great term ahead! Come and visit the Leeds class page later this week to see our creations.
