School Organisation

Pentland has approximately 280 children in full time attendance, plus a 39-place morning and afternoon nursery facility.

There are 12 classes and a Support Base and two Nurture/Cosy Corners.

The school is organised into four teams as follows:

  • Foundation Team – made up of Nursery and Reception classes and currently comprises of three teachers and two nursery nurses.
  • Lower Team – made up of Year 1 and Year 2 class groups and three teachers are responsible for the organisation and structure of Lower team.
  • Middle Team – made up of Year 3 and Year 4 class groups and there are four teachers responsible for the planning and organisation of Middle team.
  • Upper team – made up of Year 5 and Year 6 classes with three teachers responsible for them.

Each year, the classes are named after different countries.  This year we decided to do UK cities - see the document below.  The first few days of each year is spent learning about the city, its main industry, culture and history.
